Today I was reading an article in a magazine about Homo Floreneiseisis(something like that), and realized that there are about 12 species of genus homo that have lived before us, and with us, and we had driven them all to extinction... i'm trying to perspective this into something like dogs or cats, where one breed of dog attacked the others in packs, outnumbering them, and having larger brain capacity and such. My main concern though is what will become of us in the age of Homo Immortalis?

What is this Homo Immortalis age you're speaking of?

That we were solely responsible for the extinction of those species is disputed, the wiki articles about them should support that, so check them.

The next age, when man evolves beyond current conciousness into higher planes of mind, and when we become imortal.

Hahaha

And on a different note, why do you think we will evolve to become immortal if mortality is the means by which evolution [supposedly] works?

I don't think he meant natural evolution.

This. There's a possibility it'll happen, though I think it'd take a long time and we'll probably evolve by man-made means or something close.

If we become immortal I don't think we will exit in physical form. We will likely store our memories into computer programs, and we will either live in virtual worlds or synthetic humanoid like bodies or robots. I can't imagine what our purpose in life will be after this, because I imagine we will have eliminated all types of desires, ethics, and emotions by this point.

I think it should be noted that our next evolutional step will be that of combination between us and our creations- Man and his tools, one and true, as has been since the dawn of our age. We may become biologically immortal because of it, but never exceeding our dimensional conscious. We cannot comprehend higher tiers of thought, due to our understanding of existence being that of the Real and the Sensible, therefore meaning we cannot possibly perceive the other planes of existence without first creating tools to do so. Either way, I believe our next evolutional step will be one towards Neoteny and expansion of Memory/Aging. We could theoretically eliminate both by transferring consciousness to that of an Avatar at the time of death, but are we to become a species of shells, easily corruptable? Is our main advantage over rivals also our weakness?
